IGIT : A Hidden Talent is Revealed .

I’ve been meaning to write about a musician or an artist, but I never found the right person to talk about…Until now.

He goes by the name : Igit, but his real name is Antoine Barrau. “IGIT” also happens to be the name of his band that resulted from his collaboration with two other musicians :  Hugo Zanghi and Paul Amboise. I discovered the 29 year old on the third season of The Voice  France. His husky yet soothing voice can easily give you chills. His own version of “Fever” by Peggy Lee, completely astonished the four judges in his blind auditions. He joined Garou’s team.

After having won the battle against Charlie on the title “Like A Hobo” by Charlie Winston, Igit sang “Les Bonbons” by Jacques Brel along with a little red piano.  Later on, in his first live performance, he sang the french version of “New York New York” by Frank Sinatra. He put on quite a show with a very talented tap dancer and a little glitter. That night, Igit was saved by the votes of his fans and stayed in the competition. Igit_portrait_w674

Ever since his first appearance on the stage of The Voice, Igit has been receiving lots of support via social media, like Facebook and Twitter, and is really admired in France and  many other countries around the World. He knows how to captivate his followers with his sense of humor. When he replies to people, he often ends his tweets with the word “sourire” (in french)  which means : smile… or 🙂 !

Other than being an amazing performer on The Voice, Igit has been doing his own thing for a long time. It all started when he was fifteen years old, he first performed with a group at his school and has been devoted to music ever since. “Igit & La communauté du petit monde” is a group he had before moving to Slovenia for three years… With nothing but a guitar and his voice, he has played lots of music in the streets of Paris, especially in “Montmartre” and other cities as well. The trio recently released a few songs : Like Angels Do, My Home, Don’t Get Me Wrong, Million Cigarettes, Any Sense At All … He sings in English and French . His music genre is mostly : blues, folk and groove. Igit has also been touring in France for a little while and has plans for summer tours as well. Aside from being an extraordinary musician,  Igit is also a cook!

I was inspired to write about Igit because I saw lots of determination, perseverance, talent and sincerity in this artist. He has been doing what he loves for numerous years and it’s his music and passion that got him to where he is today. His songs are inspired by personal events and are mostly about lost love. We can see that he pours his heart out every time he sings. The beautiful melody, along with his poetic touch, will take you to a whole other world.
